D. Taylor Harper

Associate

Taylor Harper, a native of Atlanta, began his legal career with a boutique, general practice firm in Cumming where he gained invaluable courtroom experience.  Later Mr. Harper worked with a large civil litigation firm in Atlanta before joining Taylor, Feil, Harper, Lumsden & Hess, P.C. in January 2011.

Mr. Harper graduated from Georgia State University College of Law where he was a member of the Moot Court Board as well as the Student Trial Lawyers Association.   During law school, Mr. Harper received several accolades including the Honors Award for Excellence in Litigation, the Nai Award for Achievement in Advanced Evidence, the C.A.L.I. Award for Excellence in Advanced Evidence, the Weltner Inn of Court Star Pupil Award and Scholarship, and the Patrick Wiseman Award for Most Dedicated Moot Court Member.   Additionally, during his second year of law school, Mr. Harper was chosen as one of seventy-five students nationwide to participate in the United States Army JAG Corps Internship Program.   Mr. Harper earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science and International Affairs from Georgia State University where he graduated with honors.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Harper worked for several years in the finance industry where he gained a wealth of practical knowledge that allows him to view and understand problems from a client's perspective; an attribute that is very much appreciated by his clients.

Mr. Harper's practice involves all aspects of commercial litigation, including contract disputes, restrictive covenants, trade secrets, business torts, insurance coverage, secured transaction and real estate litigation.   Mr. Harper also defends insurers against premise liability claims. 

Additionally, a portion of his practice is devoted to employment law litigation encompassing a variety of issues, including claims arising under Title VII. Mr. Harper also advises employers on matters pertaining to compliance as well as avoidance of claims.

Mr. Harper also serves clients in the Hospitality and Alcohol Beverage Industry. Specifically, he focuses on administrative and regulatory matters pertaining to licensing issues.

Outside of legal work, Mr. Harper serves as the Chairman and President of Maji Mazuri USA, a non-profit organization helping to alleviate poverty in the Mathare Valley slum located in Nairobi, Kenya.  He also frequently volunteers with the Young Lawyers Division.
